What goes into our pricing...
PART 1: From production to your table there are a few steps in-between. Those steps include importing (sea or air), Special bonds (insurance), transport from port to facilities.
Before any manpower stateside is added in it costs us an average of $3.64 per unit to get through this portion of the process (some units are more expensive than others depending on the wholesale price - ex: Flour is more expensive than a 250g box of pasta etc).
PART 2: Warehousing, picking and fulfilling. We keep our product in a secure, food safe facility. When we get orders we need to 'pick' the product and prepare it for fulfillment. Every time we 'pick' (that essentially means to pull the product from storage) there is a fee involved. Then it's boxed (55 cents to $1.05 depending on the box size - if you can find us better pricing we are all ears. The better we can do with costs like boxes the more we can pass that along to our customers in the form of lower cost goods).
At this point we are nearing the $5 mark per unit (Conservatively as warehousing fluctuates based on how seem-less we can be on our end - the more orders we can pull at once the better ... stops the individual order pulls from adding up). We can see the average unit cost at this point reach $5.40 - $5.60.
PART 3: Us. Yes ... Us. The prices you see on our website reflect the mark-up we need to set in order to earn a living wage - And an argument could be made that we are stretching the term 'living wage' to it's breaking point in order to try and mitigate the mark-up as best we can. Our take is a very humble one, but necessary and most importantly - earned. We had to shut down our business last year because we made the mistake of minimizing the importance of margins in lieu of trying to make everyone complaining about costs happy. We wish we could give everything away but we can't. But we do want you all to know ... we are being fair. The more we grow, bettering our buying power, our prices will reflect any and all reductions in costs we can negotiate.
Our goal is to find success bringing these products to all of you because we know how much they are loved ... for many reasons but health being a major one. We want to be transparent about the costs because we know it matters and quite often companies forget that the customers are the only reason success can be a reality...
